Full Name:
J. K. (Jeannie) Holmes

Biography

"How can I put you at ease?  Shall we begin like David Copperfield?  'I am born.   I grew up'.   Or, shall we begin when I was born to darkness, as I call it?  That's really were we should begin, don't you think?"
~ Louis, Interview with the Vampire (film version)

Jeannie grew up  in rural southwest Mississippi with her five older siblings, and it was her siblings who first introduced her to science fiction and horror movies, much to the chagrin of her parents.   Blessed with an over-active imagination, she spent countless hours creating entire worlds within her mind and "play acting" within the wondrous rural acres surrounding her childhood home.

Jeannie was awarded an Associate of Arts degree in history in the summer of 1994, but her true passions were fiction writing and art.  Her love of literature and art continued to be a driving force in her life, even though her official pursuit of a writing and art career would take a "backseat" to her work in various medical fields for many years.

In August 1998, Jeannie moved from rural Mississippi to Aurora, Colorado.  While living and working in the Denver metro area, she met her future husband, Mark.  The two became inseparable in November 1998, and eventually returned to Mississippi in April 2000.  They wed in the summer of 2002.

The couple settled in Mobile, Alabama in late 2002, and Mark encouraged Jeannie to pursue her artistic and literary interests.   She enrolled at the University of South Alabama and began studying creative writing and art in earnest.  They remain in Mobile and happily share their humble home with four cats: Chaos, Panic, Disorder, and Nugget.
